The Cunard liner Queen Mary in New York Harbor 1938. The most beautiful of them all, I have always thought. The little gray vessel on the right is, anachronistically, a Flower class corvette, which I put in to give a sense of the Queen's size. The model is by CM (Carlos Marquardt).
If you have read The Cruel Sea by Nicholas Montsarrat, the presence in New York of a Flower, as in the book's Compass Rose, at the same time as the Queen, is not too farfetched, but the Queen would have been in gray.
