Living Room on Willoway Circle- Detail. This detail was very hard to scan. The nubby linen reflects the scanner light and exaggerates the texture, but the image exactly conveys the problem of trying to paint finely on coarse canvas. I am very pleased with the handling of the shadows. It makes me feel I learned something from the "Little Dutch Masters."
The paintings on the wall are, from left to right: A Persian romantic print which belonged to my parents, (in the mirror) a copy of a Roualt Christ that belonged to my mother, and a genuine Hiroshige print of two women under a parasol, which belonged to Uncle Claude. The lamp is pre-war Chinese. The piano is piled with sheet music, mostly Beethoven, Schubert and Mozart. Some Gerschwin and Kern.
