Sue's Hill in Winter-a trois coleurs by Fritz Wagner

Sue's Hill In Winter.   The view is of the trees and hill leading down to the Lake in my sister in law's back yard.   The town is Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.   The time is the dead of winter on a bright overcast afternoon.   There is enough light for the trees to cast shadows, but it is a diffuse light.   I sit in the comfort of a warm living room and and draw for hours until it is complete.

This was done with red, white and black crayon on brown paper. The French, who invented the technique, call it á trois coleurs.   The original is lost and this image is scanned from a snapshot I took to have as a memento. Good thing, too.   Perhaps my most satisfying drawing from nature.
